Le Clos Medicis

The allure of the Latin Quarter

Le Clos Medicis is a jewel of a private hotel in the Latin Quarter. The Panthéon, Notre-Dame and the classy boutiques of Saint-Germain-des-Prés are just minutes away, as is the Jardin du Luxembourg, constructed in the 17th century at the instigation of Marie de Medicis, the mother of King Ludwig XIII. With 38 appealing and tastefully appointed rooms and one suite – and with conveniences such as air conditioning, direct dial telephone, Internet access Wireless LAN free of charge, cable TV, safe and hairdryer – this is one of the city’s best hotels in the three-star class and a real find. Le Clos Medicis has stood at 56 Rue Monsieur le Prince since 1760. Numerous architectural refinements from a bygone age have been not only retained but decoratively highlighted, including the ceiling beams in the rooms and the centuries-old stone columns flanking the fireplace in the comfortable lounge next to the reception area. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but breakfast is a true experience. In summer, you can hear the birds sing in the pleasantly tranquil little courtyard – right in the middle of a world capital.
